Write locally, connect when you need to
How journaling without an account differs from syncing with a connected account.
Starting a journal and using sync are separate choices in Miroven.
On your current device
In local-only mode, you can write and search entries on your current device without an account. Records are encrypted in browser storage. They are not automatically sent to other devices in this mode.
Across devices
Connect an account to sync ciphertext through the server. Entries and photos are encrypted before transmission. On another device, recover the vault to read them.
Signing in gives access to your sync account. It is separate from unlocking or recovering a vault.
When the domain changes
Browser local storage is separated by site address. Moving from this website to the app does not move your records onto this website.
Before changing the app address or moving to a self-hosted instance, prepare a file backup on your existing device and review the recovery instructions.
